Mother of Dianne W. May
Ruby Mae Huffaker Webster, 73, formerly of Knoxville, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, in the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Prior to entering the hospital she had been a resident of Regency Health Care Center in Norris since April.
She was the mother of Dianne Webster (Mrs. Robert) May of 106 Osage Road, a teacher's assistant at Robertsville Junior High School. Mrs. Webster had lived with her daughter and son-in-law at various times before she became a resident of the nursing home.
Mrs. Webster was born in Kodak and came to live in Knoxville as a young woman. She was a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church of Knoxville and had enjoyed reading, raising flowers and vegetables and canning the vegetables. She was also an expert at quilting, knitting, sewing and embroidering her daughter says.
In addition to her local daughter, Mrs. Webster is survived by a son, William A. Merritt of Copperas Cove, Texas; two stepsons, Lester S. Webster Sr. of Helenwood and Charles E. Webster of Knoxville; a number of grandchildren including Jennifer and Melissa May, both of Oak Ridge, Laura Johnson, Lester S. Webster Jr., Donna Reed and Kelly Webster, all of Knoxville; several great-grandchildren including Lester S. Webster III of Knoxville; and an aunt, Martha Clifton of Knoxville.
The funeral was to be at 2 p.m. today, Jan 12, in the chapel of Stevens Mortuary of Knoxville, with the Rev. James McCluskey officiating. Burial was to be in Pollard Cemetery.
The family requests that anyone wishing to give a gift as a memorial in Mrs. Webster's name, donate it to the charity of the donor's choice.
