- EVANS, NANCYE BABER - age 77 of Knoxville, formerly of Claxton, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at St. Mary's Residential Hospice. She retired from Anderson County Government in the Trustees Office in Clinton and was a member of Black Oak Height Baptist Church in Knoxville. Nancye is preceded in death by: first husband, George H. Baber; parents, Victor and Gladys Glover; sister, Bianca Ervin. Survived by: husband, Earnest "EG" Evans of Knoxville; son, George F. Baber & wife Brenda of Claxton; daughter, Janet & husband Gary D. Richards of Claxton; 3 grandchildren, Matthew R. Baber & wife Lori of Hermitage, Marcus L. Richards and Brandi M. Richards of Claxton; stepsons, Gordon L. Evans & wife Cindy of Dallas, TX, Dean A. Evans & wife Debbie of Powell; step grandchildren, Clint Evans and Whitney Evans of Dallas, TX; brother-in-law, James O. Evans & wife Winston of Powell; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Antonucci and the staff of Tennessee Cancer Specialist for their care during Nancye's illness. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 pm, Thursday, April 6, 2006 at Black Oak Heights Baptist Church with funeral services following with Dr. Charles Hyder, Rev. Steve Ross, and Rev. Glenn Gamble officiating. Her burial will be 11:00 AM, Friday at Grandview Memorial Garden. Pallbearers will be: Dean Richards, Charles Robbins, David Barker, Bill Kirby, Charlie Barker, Don Poston, and Wayne Itrube; honorary pallbearers: Couples IV Sunday School Class and Willing Workers Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers she requested memorials be made to Black Oak Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, 405 Black Oak Drive, Knoxville, TN 37912 or the charity of your choice. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements.
