SMITH, Mrs. Mayme Pollard - age 73, of 128 Pickering Street, passed away at the home early Wednesday morning. She was a member of Victor Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors: husband, J. M. Smith, Knoxville; daughter, Mrs. Ruby Webster, Knoxville; granddaughter, Mrs. Dianne Constance, Oak Ridge; grandsons, William A. Merrill, Charles Webster, Lester Webster; sisters, Mrs. Birdie Hancock, Mrs. Emma Hancock, Mrs. Georgia Glenn, Mrs. Lizzie Fox, all of Knoxville; Mrs. Velma Stallings, Strawberry Plains; several nieces and nephews. Services 2 p.m. Friday McCarty Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Bill Luallen, Rev. Thurman M. Pate officiating. Interment Pollards Cemetery. Pallbearers; Adam, Buford, Junior and Fate Hancock, David Norris, H. L. Smith. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Thursday at McCarty's.

Mayme Pollard Smith, 73, Knoxville, grandmother of Mrs. Jerry Constance, 117 E. Magnolia Lane died Wednesday morning at her home. She had been in declining health for several years.
Mrs. Smith was born and reared in Beech Springs, a small community near Kodak. She attended the Beech Springs public schools.
A member of Victor Freewill Baptist Church in Knoxville, Mrs. Smith was active in church work and enjoyed growing flowers.
She is survived by her husband, J. M. Smith; one daughter, Mrs. Ruby Webster, Knoxville; five sisters, Mrs. Paine (Payne) Hancock, Mrs. Bruce Hancock, Mrs. Sid Fox, Mrs. George Glenn, all of Knoxville, and Mrs. Albert Stallings, Strawberry Plains; and four grandchildren including Mrs. Constance.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at McCarty Mortuary in Knoxville with the Rev. Bill Luallen, pastor of the Victor Freewill Baptist Church, and the Rev. Thurman M. Pate, pastor of the Faith Freewill Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at the family cemetery in Kodak. (Pollards)
