- UNDERWOOD, LEONARD J. (RED) - age 80, of Knoxville, died 9:00 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2003, at his residence. He was a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church. Retired from Thermo King of Knoxville, as a brake mechanic. He is preceded in death by son, Darryl Michael Underwood; parents, Charlie and Ida Underwood; brothers, Wiley and Boyd Underwood; sisters, Ruth Catlett, Willie Smith, Irene Underwood and Cleo Romines. Survivors: wife, Rosemary Overton Underwood of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Nathan Hall of Simpsonville, S.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, Gregory Alan and Teresa Underwood of Corryton, Terry and Edith Underwood of Strawberry Plains; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Bertha Mae Young of Hermitage; brother, L.D. Underwood of Strawberry Plains. Funeral service will be 8:00 p.m. Sunday, Stevens Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Buford Wilson and Rev. Randy Troutman will officiate. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. on Monday at Beech Springs Cemetery in Kodak for a 11:00 a.m. graveside service and interment. Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Ave. at Broadway, in charge.
