- MOORE, FRANCIS L. - age 92 of Clinton, passed away July 2, 2011 at NHC of Oak Ridge. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Claxton. Francis had over 13 years of experience in law enforcement and was a former Sheriff of Anderson County and Chief of Police in Clinton. He was a WWII Veteran, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and South Clinton Lions Club. He served on the board of the Anderson County Board of Education for 8 1/2 years, American Legion for 19 years and Farm Bureau for 16 years. He was the founder of Anderson County Bee Keepers Association and was a long time member of the Tennessee Bee Keepers Association. He also taught Adult Agriculture Education to veterans of WWII. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Armstrong Moore; parents, James and Laura Moore; brothers, Fred, Ellis and Raymond Moore; sister, Vada Lang and two infant sisters. Survivors include his two children, Richard (Gladys) Moore and Barbara ( Gary )Brakebill; brother, Lawrence (Edith) Moore; sister, Elsie England; grandchildren, Gary L. Brakebill, Lori( Mark) Nickelson and Richard Moore, Jr.; great grandchildren, Lauren and Allyson Nickelson, Cody, Emily, and Holly Moore; several nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 5, 2011, from 12-2PM at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral service will be at 2:00pm with Rev. Larry Hewitt officiating.
