- Feb. 1999: Having seen no data on Effie Pollard, I asked my dad, (Leroy Hancock, Sr) if he remembered Effie. "Oh yes," he replied. Effie was speech/hearing impaired. A very pretty young lady. There was a child, a son, born out of wedlock. Effie Pollard never married.
In another conversation with Kathleen Whitaker, (Feb., 1999) Kathleen stated that Effie lived with her brother, Monroe Pollard, after the death of her parents.
Fannie Mae Patterson also remembers Effie. According to family history, Fannie states that the homeplace (a quarry) was deeded to Monroe for caring for Effie after the death of their father, Jesse Pollard. The child Effie bore was rumored to be fathered by a relative (a cousin).

TN Death Certificate 11232; Reg No 47908. List parents of Effie Pollard as J C Pollard and Malinda Cates. Cause of death as not reported. Informant: Mrs. Payne Hancock. (sister of Effie Pollard).
Etta Effie Pollard and an infant son are buried in unmarked grave. The gravesites are above Effie's parents (Jesse & Malinda Cate Pollard). These were shown to me May, 1999 by Miss Cate, who attended funerals of Jesse, Malinda and Effie Pollard. - dch-c [1]
