Member of Dumplin Baptist Church, French Broad Lodge No 588 F&AM, Kodak OES No. 460, Knoxville Scottish Rige Bodies. Survivors: daughter, Mrs. Clyde (Mildred) Lindsey, Dandridge; sons, Rev. Kyle Cate and Glenn Cate, both of New Market; stepdaughter, Mrs. Burl (Matilda) Wilhite; stepson, Mike Sharp, both of Strawberry Plains; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.     CATE ERNEST M. - age 80, of Kodak, the brother of Florence Swann and Louise Kelly of Dandridge, passed away Sunday, January 14, 1996 at Sevier Medical Center. He was a member of French Broad Valley Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of World War II, a member of the French Broad Masonic Lodge and the Kodak Order of the Eastern Star. He was a member of the Sevier County Court for 12 years. He is survived by his wife, Leona Cate; daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and David Trotter of Sevierville, Jan and Charles Haynes of Sanford, North Carolina; grandchildren, Andy and Jon Trotter, Jennifer and Kimberly Haynes; sister, Velma Sims and Golda Catlett of Kodak, Florence Swann and Louise Kelly of Dandridge; brothers, Lawrence and Reed Cate of Kodak; several nieces and nephews. The family received friends Monday prior to the funeral service at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. Officiating the service were Rev. Jimmy Riner and Rev. Charles Harkleroad. Interment will be Tuesday, January 16, at 11 a.m. at Underwood Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his father, Estel Lee Jessie; brother, Danny Lee Jessie; sisters, Rita and Terry Jessie; nephew, Thomas Christopher Davis; grandparents, Otis and Gladys Jesse and Arthur and Laura Cate. Survivors: wife, Mary Ellen Finchum Jessie; son, Michael David Jessie, II; sisters and brothers-in-law, Robin and Chris Davis, Sherry and Charlie Williams; mother and step-father, Trula Ann Huskey and Clarence; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Virgil and Blanche Finchum; step-brothers, Dan, Eddie, Gary (Tiny) and Jim Huskey; step-sisters, Jan Hensley and Ann Bryan; several aunts and uncles; special brother, Ennis Mills; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Kay and Mike West and Faye Holbert; nephews, Jessie Davis, Rankin Davis, Josh Davis and Eric Williams; niece, Dawn Holbert. Funeral service 7:30 p.m. Monday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Dan King and Rev. Ron Jones officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Tuesday in Cate Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:30 p.m. Monday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
