    UNDERWOOD, L.D. - age 90 of Strawberry Plains passed away to go be with the Lord on Saturday, August 19, 2006. He was a member of Chilhowee Baptist Church. He was retired from Standard Knitting Mills. He was a decorated veteran of WWII. Preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Ida Underwood; wife, Bessie Whillock Underwood; brothers, Wiley, Boyd, and Leonard; sisters, Cleo Romines, Ruth Catlet, Willie Smith, and Irene Underwood; and several nieces and nephews. Survivors include daughter and son-in- law, Peggy and John Lee of Strawberry Plains; grandson and wife, Danny and Debbie Lee of Strawberry Plains; granddaughter and husband, Donna and Tom Koerner of Clinton; step-grandson and wife, Jeremy and Kim Nichols of Knoxville; step-granddaughter and husband, Kassidy and Lynn Hazelwood of Talbot; step-granddaughter, Brittany Nichols of Knoxville; great-granddaughters, Lora-Grace and Hannah Lee Koerner of Clinton; great-great-grandson, Tyler Hazelwood of Talbot; sister, Bertha Young of Hermitage, TN; sister-in- law, Rose Mary Underwood of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their thanks to Hillcrest West Health Care and to Cares Hospice. Funeral services will be 8 PM Sunday in the chapel at Bridges Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Tatum and Rev. Lee Chorn officiating. Family and friends will meet 10 AM Monday at the funeral home and proceed to Beech Springs Cemetery for an 11 AM interment. Pallbearers: Johnny Romines, David Huffaker, J.T. Whillock, Terry Underwood, Rolly Young and Jim Seals. Military honors will be provided by the E. TN Veteran Honor Guard. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Sunday at Bridges Funeral Home, 5430 Rutledge Pike, 523-4999.

    ROMINES, EDNA CLEO UNDERWOOD - age 96, of Strawberry Plains, died at home on December 27, 1998. She was a lifelong member of Thorngrove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by husband, Oda Romines; sons, Charlie Romines and Jimmy Romines; and grandson, Michael Romines. She is survived by daughter, Virginia Adams; son, Johnny Romines and wife, Wanda; grandchildren, Steve Adams, Susan Adams Seals and Jim Seals, Juanita Romines Warwick and Jon Warwick, Debra Romines; great-grandchildren, Chris Adams, Gina Adams Fawver and Rick Fawver, Christy Jo Seals, Jennifer Seals, Keela Romines, Cassie Romines; great-great-grandchild, Andrew Fawver; sister, Bertha Mae Young; and brothers, L.D. Underwood and Leonard Underwood. Funeral service 7 p.m. Monday, Roberts Chapel, Rev. Tim Tatum and Rev. John Brewster officiating. Pallbearers: Chris Adams, Jon Warwick, Mack Emmert, Rolland Yount, Jr., Tim Underwood, Terry Underwood, R.L. Faulkner, Eddie Seals, Charles Edward Underwood. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Lee and deacons of Thorngrove Baptist Church. Flower girls: Evelyn Morrell, Betty Walker, Gladys Ellison, Helen Moffitt, Billie Clift, Jean Neil, Annah Faulkner. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Thorngrove Baptist Church Building Fund or Strawberry Plains Methodist Church Organ Fund. Family and friends will meet 10:15 Tuesday, Roberts Chapel and go in procession to Beech Springs Cemetery for an 11 a.m. interment. He is preceded in death by son, Darryl Michael Underwood; parents, Charlie and Ida Underwood; brothers, Wiley and Boyd Underwood; sisters, Ruth Catlett, Willie Smith, Irene Underwood and Cleo Romines. Survivors: wife, Rosemary Overton Underwood of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Nathan Hall of Simpsonville, S.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, Gregory Alan and Teresa Underwood of Corryton, Terry and Edith Underwood of Strawberry Plains; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Bertha Mae Young of Hermitage; brother, L.D. Underwood of Strawberry Plains. Funeral service will be 8:00 p.m. Sunday, Stevens Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Buford Wilson and Rev. Randy Troutman will officiate.
