Funeral service 2 Saturday at Linden Avenue Baptist Church. Rev. Dudley Cockrum and Rev. George Pittman officiating. The body will lie in state one hour before the services. Interment Cate Cemetery.     Paul E. Underwood, age 82, went to be with his Heavenly Father on December 14, 2017. God saw you getting tired and your stay was not to be. He put His arms around you and whispered "Come with Me". With tear filled eyes we watched you fade. Although we loved you deeply we knew that you could not stay. A gold heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest, our hearts were broken but it was God's way of saying He only takes the best.

    He will be missed by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Linda (Clorinda) Underwood. Daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Chris Browning. Grandsons Chad and Jake Davis. Sister, Marvin Lane, brother and sister-in-law, David and LaFern Underwood. Sister-in-law, Shannon Lett, brother-in-law, Ed Childress, and many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

    Preceded in death, son, Joseph; father and mother, Omer and Trula Underwood; brother, J.T. Underwood and sister, Ila Ruth Sampson.

    Special thanks to Tennessee Cancer Specialists and Smokey Mtn. Hospice.

    Paul loved his work and his friends at Marshall's Transmission.

    The family will receive friends Sunday, December 17 from 2:00p-4:00p at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. Service to follow with Pastor Ronnie White and Pastor Kim McCroskey. Family and friends will meet Monday, December 18 at 11:15a for an 11:30a interment at East Tennessee Veteran's Cemetery on John Sevier Highway.

    In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Shriner's Hospitalor St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

    The family would like to thank all for prayers and visits during Paul's journey. He will be waiting for us with his friendly smile, Pepsi and popcorn in hand.
