OBITUARY
SHEPHERD, LENARD L. - age 74, of Powell, passed away on Tuesday evening at the St. Mary's Residential Hospice in Knoxville. Mr. Shepherd was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman Lawton and Mary Jane Huddleston Shepherd; brother, Cecil Shepherd; and sister, Edith Manis. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marjorie Evans Shepherd; two daughters, Sharon Malloy and husband Joe of Franklin, TN, and Cindy Elwood and husband Todd of Thompson's Station, TN; 3 grandsons, Joseph, Jacob, and Joshua Malloy; 2 nephews, 1 niece and many other relatives and friends. Mr. Shepherd retired from the Knox County School System in 1991 after 34 years of serving as both teacher and Principal. He was a member of Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. An avid fisherman and outdoorsman, he taught the Hunters' Safety Course for many years. He was a man who never met a stranger. The family will receive friends Friday, from 5 to 7 pm at Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 7225 Old Clinton Pike, Knoxville. The funeral service will follow, with Dr. Thomas Sweet and Rev. Don Sweet officiating. Graveside services will be held 11 am Saturday, at the Lynch-Bethel Cemetery.
