- ELDER, LETA EVELYN ROBERTS - 92 of Kodak, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at St. Mary's Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Jefferson City. On September 8, 1913, Leta was born to the late Benjamin and Nora Holbert Roberts in Sevier County. She was one of 14 children born to this couple. Leta was a long-time member of the Beech Springs Baptist Church and a devoted mother, grandmother and homemaker to her family. Preceding Leta in death are: her husband, Roy S. Elder; brothers, Don, Roy, John and Eugene Roberts; sisters, Ray Greene, Ruth Snyder and Mabel Bowman; son-in-law, Arthur Douglas. Leta is survived by: her daughter, Helen Jane Douglas; grandchildren, Jennifer Jones and husband Greg, Suzanne Maples and husband Kevin; great-grandchildren, Kathryn and Andrew Jones, Anna Grace, Madison and Sydney Maples; brothers, Frank Roberts and wife Dorothy, Delmar Roberts, J.D. Roberts and wife Delores; sisters, Naomi Mullins and husband Shields, Margaret Swaggerty and Doris Wilcox. Besides the immediate family, Leta will be missed by many other relatives and a host of friends. A special thanks to the Jefferson County Nursing Home. Service will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2005 at Beech Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Maples and Rev. Kevin Childs officiating. A procession will be leaving Beech Springs Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 17 for a 10:30 a.m. interment at Hillcrest Cemetery.
