OBITUARY:
PHIPPS, CAROLYN ANN SHREVE - of Knoxville, passed away Monday, June 30, 2008. She worked, studied, and was active in the United Methodist Church her whole life. She was a member of the National Educational Association, along with being involved in Project Linus. She served for over 30 years as an elementary school librarian in Southwestern Virginia. Preceded in death by: Mr. and Mrs. V.E. Shreve (parents); the loves of her life, Gayle Phipps (husband) and Gregory Richard Phipps (son); brother, William (Bill) Shreve and sister, Betty Jean Shreve. Survived by: her best friend and beloved daughter, Michelle Robin Phipps; future son-in- law, Steven Summey II; brothers, Jim Shreve, Charles Shreve, Bobby Shreve, and Wayne Shreve; sister, Mary Lay; many loving sisters-in-law; many adoring nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her cherished, lifelong friends, Sue Sink, Peggy Cavin, Linda Bagwell, Tresea Felts, Karen Coleman, and Jeanette Leftwich. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to the Gregory Richard Phipps Memorial Scholarship. Make checks payable to Carroll Scholarship Foundation.
