- UNDERWOOD, JAMES E. - 85, accepted the call to join our Heavenly Father on October 23, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents, Granny and Thomas Davis; and his brothers Lynn and Bob Underwood. Jim was a WWII veteran who gave unselfishly to the service of his country and earned 2 Bronze Stars in the EAME Theater. He was a small man with a huge heart, a loyal fan of the Volunteers, and a faithful member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Dorothy Tindall; his son and daughter-in law, Harry and Sandy Underwood of Atlanta Ga.; his daughter and son-in law, Cathy and Bill Burch of Albuquerque, NM.; his daughter, Gwen Baxter of Knoxville, TN.; his daughter and son-in law, Phyllis and Mark Cox of Huntsville, AL.; his son and daughter-in law, Tom and Denise Underwood of Alpharetta, GA.; his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bruce Hayes of Maryville, TN; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grand children. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2007 in Highland South Memorial Park with Monsignor Xavier Mankel officiating. The staff of Highland South Funeral Home is honored to serve the Underwood family.
