- POLLARD, L. C. - age 89, passed away March 11, 2007 at home. He was a WWII veteran of the Navy. He was employed by ALCOA for 30 years. Long time member of Bookwalter United Methodist Church, serving as head usher for many years. With his love for God and church he was influential in many people becoming part of Bookwalter UMC. He will always be remembered for his hugs. Preceded in death by: his parents, Lige and Dicie Pollard; wife of 54 years, Inez Pollard; sister, Ruth Henderson and stepson, Stanley Poynter. Survivors: wife of 12 years, Mary Pollard; stepson, Stanley Poynter, Lake City; stepdaughter, Brenda Poynter; sister and brother-in-law, Billie and Charles Baker, Powell; grandchildren, Chris and Elise Poynter, Knoxville, Kevin and Kelly, Tampa FL, Scott Poynter Orlando FL, Stacy and husband Dr. Mike Mysinger, Knoxville, Ronald and Linda Poynter, Lafollette and Derek Poynter, Lake City; great grandchildren, Clark and Cole Poynter, Ella Mysinger, Knoxville and Shayla Poynter, Lafollette; nieces, Karen Bayless, Powell and Janice Reed, Stuttgart AR and nephew, Rudy Henderson, Knoxville; devoted caregiver, Carol Holloway. Funeral service 8 pm Tuesday Bookwalter United Methodist Church, Rev. Mike Hull and Dr. David Lord officiating. Family and friends will meet 1:45 pm Wednesday at Bookwalter Cemetery for graveside service at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Bookwalter United Methodist Church, Children's Department. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Bookwalter United Methodist Church.
