Terry Lynn Darr, a decorated Vietnam Veteran, died on August 24, 2015 at the age of 72. A graduate of Powell High School, where he was known for his athleticism (especially football), Terry served in the Navy, earning several medals for bravery and honorable service. He was a chemical operator at ORNL and owned his own jewelry business. In quiet times he enjoyed nature, photography and sculpting. His love of the ladies earned him the title of silver-tongued devil, which he wore with a smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Jewell Darr; and second wife, Mary Lou Edmonds. Terry will be deeply missed by so many, especially his son, Michael R. Darr and ex-wife Ashlee; daughter, Mary Lynn Haun; grandchildren, Joseph and Taylor Darr; sister, Sandra Follis; nephews, Eric and Eddie Weaver and families; ex-wife and friend, Mickey Darr Blakely; ex-wife, Charlene Pratt; numerous cherished cousins; lifelong friend, Billy Paul Evans; and other friends too numerous to mention.
The family will receive friends at Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel on Monday, August 31st from 5:00-7:00 with the funeral to follow at 7:00 pm. A graveside service is to be held at Bishopville Cemetery, Raccoon Valley Road, Heiskell, on Tuesday, September 1st at 11:00 am with full military honors.
