- WELCH, TEDDIE EUGENE, SR. - Age 84 of Knoxville, TN departed this life Wednesday morning at Select Specialty Hospital, at St. Mary's. He was retired from ORNL after 36 years. He was an honorably discharged Army veteran who served his country as a 2nd Lt. during WWII and fought during the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his actions as Infantry Unit Commander. Teddie was a 32 Degree Mason who was a member of Bright Hope Lodge #557 F&AM, Scottish Rite, and served as a Greeter at Kerbela Temple. He was a long time season ticket holder of both UT Football and Knoxville Hockey. Teddie touched the lives of all he knew. His blue eyes and beautiful smile will forever be missed. He is preceded in death by son, Teddie Eugene Welch Jr.; son-in-law, Chester Wolfenbarger; brother, Carl Welch. Survived by beloved wife of 62 years Jacqueline Darr Welch; daughter, Pamela Wolfenbarger; granddaughter, Sabrina Wolfenbarger; grandsons, Teddie E. Welch III , Rex A. Welch, Jason E. Welch; sister, Ella Mae Powell; daughter- in-law, Gail Welch; special nephews Terry, Mike and son Darr; nieces and nephews; many relatives and precious friends. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 am Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery for an 11:00 am graveside service Rev. Lynn Kohler officiating, also with full military honors provided by United Veterans Honor Guard and the National Guard. Family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Friday at Gentry-Griffey Chapel.
