  	Story by Hazelwood Turner|| Hazlewood Turner told the following story about Tom: Uncle Tom was preaching one day and two rough young men came into the church. Without stopping his sermon, he walked down to the two men, grabbed them by the collar and escorted them out of the church.

  Marriage story|| Since Tom was a preacher, on of his duties was to perform marriages. According to Ethel Evans Walczyk, he would always perform the wedding ceremony between half past the hour and the top of the hour when the minute hand of the clock was traveling upward, so that the married couple would always be on an upward positive journey.
