- Obituary:
Ewin Shumate , age 71 of Tazewell, died Dec. 9 at Claiborne Hospital. He was a railroad switch foreman and a member of New Tazewell Baptist Church and also a member of Evening Star Lodge 180 F&AM and Eastern Star.
Survivors: wife, Minnie Shumate, Tazewell; sons, Roy Shumate, Louisville, Ky., Raye Shumate, Louisville, Ky., Ross Shumate, Louisville, Ky.;three grandchildren; sisters, Miss Lizzie Shumate, Mrs. Cleo Shelton, Maynardville, Mrs Evie Turner, Corbin Ky.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday at First Baptist Church of New Tazewell with the Rev. Charles . Earl officiating.
Burial in Pleasant View Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Sherman Moody Jr., Mitchell Turner, George L. Turner, Kenneth Turner, Otto Greer, Edwin Lawson.
Honorary pallbearers: Craig Greer, Sherman Moody Jim Delap, General Coffey, and members of Sunday School class.
