  	Amy Weaver was pregnant with her firstborn son, John in 1826 and William hadn't married her. William was in Texas at the time and Amy wrote to him to ask him to come home inasmuch as she was desparate and the church was having to help her. He sent a letter and told her that he was coming home. At one point, Amy filed suit against him and charged him with bastardry. He was ordered to pay $500 toward the upkeep of the child or go to jail. William and Amy were married shortly thereafter.
