D. F. Cate - Age 76, of Baldwin Cate Rd., New Market, Tenn., passed away Tuesday morning, March 5, 2002 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He was born and raised, and was a life long resident of the Dumplin Community of Jefferson County, and was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Member of the Dumplin Baptist Church, and was an avid baseball fan. Preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Jean Cate; parents, Arthur and Mae Woolard Cate; brothers Paul, Roy, Harold, and Cecil Cate, and daughter-in law, Hope Cate. Survivors: daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Kenny Ballew, Kay and Charlie Blake, Rhonda and Jacky Bukhart, and Angie and Frankie Brown; sons and daughters-in-law, W. A. Cate, Fred and Shirley Cate, Ted and Sharon Cate, and Richie and Brenda Cate; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Loop, Trula Huskey and Joyce Nelson; brother, J.L. Cate; sister-in-law, Blanche Cate, and brother-in law, Bobby Cate. Funeral services Thursday, 1:00 p.m. at the Farrar Dandridge Chapel with Rev. Ron Jones and Rev. Kyle Cate officiating. Internment to follow in Cate Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home, Dandridge.

CATE, WILMA JEAN - age 73 of Baldwin Cate Rd., New Market, Tenn., passed away Saturday evening, November 17, 2001 at her home. She was born, raised and was a life long resident of the Dumplin Community of Jefferson County and was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Member of the Dumplin Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Bill and Rosa Cate; sister, Beulah Pate; brothers, Mayford, Olif and Dexter Cate; daughter in law, Hope Cate. Survivors: husband of 56 years, D.F. Cate; daughters & sons in law, Pat and Kenny Ballew, Kay and Charlie Blake, Rhonda and Jacky Burkhart, Angie and Frankie Brown; sons & daughters in law, W.A. Cate, Fred an Shirley Cate, Ted and Sharon Cate, Richie and Brenda Cate; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; sister, Blanche Cate and brother, Bobby Cate. Funeral services Tuesday, 11 a.m. at the Dumplin Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Jones and Rev. Kyle Cate officiating. Interment to follow in Cate Cemetery. Family will receive friends Monday evening 6-8 p.m. at the Dumplin Baptist Church. Arrangements by Farrar Funeral Home, Dandridge.

CATE, ROSA R., age 80 of Route 3, New Market, passed away at Jefferson Memorial Hospital at 6:30 a.m. Friday. Member of Dumplin Baptist Church. Survivors: 2 sons, Mayford Cate, Dalton, Ga., Bobby Cate, New Market; 3 daughters, Misses Blanche and Wilma Cate both of New Market, Mrs. Beulah Pate, Knoxville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren: 1 sister, Mrs. Hattie Riddle, Knoxville. Funeral services Sunday 2 PM at Dumplin Baptist Church. Rev. Kyle Cate, Rev. Frankie Donner officiating. Interment Cate Cemetery. Farrar Funeral Home, Dandridge, in charge.

John and Margaret Underwood Cate lived in the "know" section of the Dumplin Community of Jefferson County, Tennessee. John died shortly after the birth of the youngest child and left Margaret "Mag" with eight children to rear. - Burl Underwood; pg. 177
