- [1, 2]
- Carl was in the service during WW II as an artillery man with the 77th infantry division in the Pacific theater. Carl worked at coal mines in TN before and after the service. Carl moved his family to Dayton in 1954. Carl worked for many years and eventually retired from employment with the city of Dayton, OH.
Mary Pauline says that Carl was the clown of the family and made everyone laugh. He contracted chickenpox from his granddaughter which then turned into shingles and his health rapidly deteriorated afterward. He couldn't eat, became dehydrated, and was ultimately on complete life support before his death. [1]
