    EVANS, OSCAR - age 97, of Powell, passed away Thursday July 12, 2001. He was a member of Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Powell Masonic Lodge #582, also Order of Eastern Star #335. He is preceded in death by wife, Jeanette Cooper Evans. He is survived by sons and daughters in law, John O. and Penny Evans, O.E. II and Mary Sue Evans; grandson, Brien and wife, Stephanie Evans; granddaughters, Beth Evans, Heather Evans and fianc?, Jason Roach. Special thanks to the staff of NHC of St. Mary's for the care they provided , also special thanks to Rev. Fred West, Jr. for his loving and caring friendship. Funeral services will be Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at Weaver Chapel with Rev. Fred West,. Jr. officiating.     Harold W. Shell, age 90, of Grand Haven passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at a local care facility. He was born August 16, 1923 in Powell, Tennessee to Millard and Flossie (Evans) Shell.

    Harold served his country as a Marine during WWII. He married the former Mary Joan Corbin on June 25, 1949 and together they raised six children. Harold earned his Master?s degree of Arts at Michigan State University. He was the Director of the Ottawa County Technical School and the Director of Vocational Education at Grand Haven High School. Harold was a former member of Lakeshore Baptist Church. He enjoyed walking and especially loved music; He played the guitar, banjo, violin, and piano.

    Harold is survived by his loving wife, Mary of 65 years; sons, David (Billia) Shell of Nashville, Tennessee and Ronald (Christa) Shell of Sennfeld, Germany; daughters: Carol (Douglas) Smith of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Nancy (Gary) Kay of Lansing, Michigan, Gloria (Jos) VanderLinden of Kentwood, Michigan, and Linda (Wyatt) Rinkel of Huntsville, Alabama. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; as well as five brothers: Basil, Bill, Jack, Don and Jerry. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Flossie.

    Gerald Lynwood Shell

    Eagleville - Gerald Lynwood Shell, age 81, of Eagleville, TN passed away on February 16, 2018. He was born on September 8, 1936 to Flossie Mae and Millard Woodson Shell.

    After graduating from Michigan State and UC Berkeley, Gerry began his revolutionary career as an Environmental Engineer. He dedicated his life to researching, developing, and implementing technologies used to treat water and wastewater. The processes and equipment he developed are used in systems worldwide. Some of his largest and most successful projects took place in Mexico, Singapore, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia. He was involved in the research and development of wastewater technologies at locations in over 40 states in the U.S.

    Gerry is survived by his loving and supportive wife of over 36 years, Carol Elizabeth Shell, and their two children Jennifer Ashleigh and Jonathan Lynwood. He is also survived by his former wife and lifelong friend, Bette Shell and their three children, Karen Crouch, Kevin, Mark, and five grandchildren.

    Gerry was the youngest of six strong-willed, successful boys. He is proceeded by his brothers Basil and Harold, and survived by brothers Jack, Don, and Bill.

    A funeral service and celebration of life will commence at Battle Mountain Farm in College Grove on Saturday, February 24th, from 2 - 4 PM.

He worked in ministry at local prisons and was active in a children's out reach program K.I. C. K.O. Joe served in the United States Army Reserve. He was proud of his heritage and was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans to honor the memory of his ancestors who served in both sides of the Civil War.
