James Henry Evans

James Henry Evans died at the home of his son-in-law, W. A. Alley, Corryton, early Saturday morning, after a brief illness. He was 82 years old.

He is survived by three daughers, Mrs. W. A. Alley and Miss Linda Evans of Corryton and Mrs. W. P. Murphy of Harbison's Cross Roads; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was a member of Bethlehem Methodist Church, at Corryton.

Funeral services will be held from Union Baptist Church at 10 a. m. Sunday, with the Rev. L. B. Chiles officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

James married Martha J. Hickle on 18 Aug 1881 in Knox Co., Tennessee. Martha was born in Oct 1862. [Group Sheet]

Mrs. Clyde Berry, of Corryton, Mrs. Clarence Warren, Knoxville, Mrs. Mildred
Shaffer, Orlando Fla.; sons, Herbert and Lawrence Murphy, Knoxville' 12
grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. Services
Thursday 2:30 p.m. Mynatt's chapel. Rev Roy Howard, Rev. C. N. Warren
officiating. Interment Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers: Clark Drummer, Hubert
Majors, George Majors, Lon Clapp, Bill Alley Jr., Eddie Hall. Family will
receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Mynatt's.
