Farm Supervisor, Jim Hamilton, Dies

James Kenneth (Jim) Hamilton, supervisor of Bowers' Farm near Seymour, died yesterday of a heart attack at this home on Evans Rd. He was 36.

Services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Atchley's Funeral Home in Sevierville. Revs Creed McCoy and William Keebler will officiate. Burial will bi in Alter Branch Cemetery in Jefferson County.

Mr. Hamilton leaves his wife, Ellen; two daughters, Misses Kay and Kathy Hamilton; a son, Jimmy Hamilton Jr., all of Knoxville; his mother, Mrs. Grace Hamilton, Sevierville) a brother, Charles Hamilton, Knoxville, and two sisters, Mrs Evelyn Reynolds, Sevierville and Mrs George Sutton, Seymour.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Arlie and Vida Jenkins; grandson, "Thumper" Nicely; sisters, Gladys Hensley, Henrietta Jenkins, and Bertie Bostic; and brother, Arlie Gene Jenkins. She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, John "Bill" Nicely; son, Chuck Nicely and wife Diane; daughter, Suzanne Saunders and husband, Paul; grandchildren: Rachel Shea; John, Jennifer, and Jeremy Nicely; sisters, Ruth Friar and Elizabeth Brezeale and husband, Earl; several nieces and nephews. 876 O'BRIEN, PAULINE SIENKNECHT 'POLLY' - passed away November 24, 2000. Survived by husband, R.C. O'Brien, Brentwood; son, Richard O'Brien, Jackson, Tenn.; daughter, Nancy (Steve) Blume, Brentwood, Tenn.; and grandchildren, Jason and Shelley Blume of Brentwood. Born April 3, 1924 in Oliver Springs, Tenn. to Fred and Eula Sienknecht, Polly graduated from Knoxville High School in 1942 along with. future husband, R. C. Upon graduation, she worked for the heads of the University of Tennessee civil and chemical engineering departments and played clarinet at a member of the Knoxville Symphony. Polly and R.C. married in 1946 and moved to Nashville in 1959. Polly worked for several years for the Tennessee PTA then became administrative assistant to the Commissioner for the Ohio Valley Conference where she retired in 1989. Polly and R.C. recently celebrated 54 years of marriage as an inseparable couple. As a devoted wife, mother, and friends to many she will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends at the Brentwood Funeral Home from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, November 27, 2000 with Dr. Charles E. Worrell, Sr. officiating. Services will be held at 2 P.M. tomorrow in McCarty's chapel for Kyle David Hancock, 19, who died Saturday from injuries suffered in a automobile accident July 17 near Oakman, Ga. while bringing his bride home to meet his family in Townsend.
His wife was reported in critical condition in an Atlanta hospital according to relatives.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Hancock of Townsend. His father, formerly a driver for Knoxville Transit Lines, owns the Arrowhead Grocery.
Mr. Hancock had previously attended Holston High school, and had been in the navy for about a year.
Surviving in addition to the parents and wife are three sisters, Mrs. Carolyn Maxwell, Los Angeles; Gwenda and and Cynthia Hancock, Townsend; and two brothers, Leroy and Clinton Hancock, Townsend.
Dr. T. C. Wyatt will officiate and burial will be in Holston View Memorial Gardens.

She was a member of Buffat Heights Baptist Church, where her faith in God showed thru her daily life. Mamaw had a forgiving heart, she loved life and her family, and was a caregiver to all. He was a farmer of Jefferson County and was retired from the Maintenance Dept. of the Jefferson County School System. Veteran of WWII. Preceded in death by brothers, Roy and Cecil Cate, New Market. Harold W. Shell, age 90, of Grand Haven passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at a local care facility. He was born August 16, 1923 in Powell, Tennessee to Millard and Flossie (Evans) Shell.

Harold served his country as a Marine during WWII. He married the former Mary Joan Corbin on June 25, 1949 and together they raised six children. Harold earned his Master?s degree of Arts at Michigan State University. He was the Director of the Ottawa County Technical School and the Director of Vocational Education at Grand Haven High School. Harold was a former member of Lakeshore Baptist Church. He enjoyed walking and especially loved music; He played the guitar, banjo, violin, and piano.

Harold is survived by his loving wife, Mary of 65 years; sons, David (Billia) Shell of Nashville, Tennessee and Ronald (Christa) Shell of Sennfeld, Germany; daughters: Carol (Douglas) Smith of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Nancy (Gary) Kay of Lansing, Michigan, Gloria (Jos) VanderLinden of Kentwood, Michigan, and Linda (Wyatt) Rinkel of Huntsville, Alabama. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; as well as five brothers: Basil, Bill, Jack, Don and Jerry. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Flossie.

KYTE, JEWELL THURMAN - died Friday, November 9, 2001 at his residence in Williston, Fla., he was 77. Mr. Kyte was born in Kodak, Tenn., and moved to the Williston area over 30 years ago from St. Petersburg, Fla. He was a retired postal clerk with the US Postal Service. Mr. Kyte was a Navy veteran and served on the US Christopher DE100 during WWII. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing and playing cards. Mr. Kyte was preceded in death by two sons, David Kyte and James Kyte. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Christine Kyte, Williston, Fla.; 2 sons and their wives, Gregory & Christine Kyte, Lakeland, Fla. and Jewell & Sherry Kyte, Inglis, Fla.; daughter, Vickie Kyte, Williston, Fla.; 2 sisters, Mildred Kyte, Knoxville, Tenn., and Bobbie Helton, Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; a close personal friend, Mary Nell Barnard, Knoxville, Tenn. CHESNEY, LONAS L. - age 85, of Knoxville, passed away Friday January 21, 2000 at St. Mary's Hospice. He was of the Baptist faith, and a veteran of World War II, having served with the 106th Infantry Division, during the Battle of the Bulge Dec. 1944 where he was captured and taken prisoner and remained a POW until the war was over. He was a charter member of Smoky Mountain Chapter Ex-POW, charter member of Chapter 24 DAV, also a charter member Purple Heart, Chapter 356. He was also a member of the 106th Infantry Division Assoc., American Legion Post 2, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Louise Underwood Chesney; son, Dwayne R. and wife, Lois of Strawberry Plans; grandson, Roger D. and wife, Kristi of Kodak; granddaughter, Jennifer and husband, Jeff Hackler, of Knoxville; four great grandchildren, Sheena, and Danielle Chesney, Levi and Lilly Hackler; and a step great granddaughter, Tori Hayes; two sisters, Colleen Lusby, and husband, Jack, Dorothy Davis and husband Arthur, all of Knoxville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2000 from the McCarty Evergreen Chapel, with the Revs. Ronnie White and Ronnie Bailey officiating.
