    Elisha, his twin brother Elijah, and their brother John "Black John", hauled salt from the salt flats at Flat Lick in Knox Co, KY to Anderson Co, TN. They used wagons and mules and followed the trail along the Powell River, through the Powell Valley, then through the Cumberland Gap to the salt flats. The round trip took four or five weeks.
