Died:
MOORE, FRANCIS L. - age 92 of Clinton, passed away July 2, 2011 at NHC of Oak Ridge. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Claxton. Francis had over 13 years of experience in law enforcement and was a former Sheriff of Anderson County and Chief of Police in Clinton. He was a WWII Veteran, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and South Clinton Lions Club. He served on the board of the Anderson County Board of Education for 8 1/2 years, American Legion for 19 years and Farm Bureau for 16 years. He was the founder of Anderson County Bee Keepers Association and was a long time member of the Tennessee Bee Keepers Association. He also taught Adult Agriculture Education to veterans of WWII. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Armstrong Moore; parents, James and Laura Moore; brothers, Fred, Ellis and Raymond Moore; sister, Vada Lang and two infant sisters. Survivors include his two children, Richard (Gladys) Moore and Barbara ( Gary )Brakebill; brother, Lawrence (Edith) Moore; sister, Elsie England; grandchildren, Gary L. Brakebill, Lori( Mark) Nickelson and Richard Moore, Jr.; great grandchildren, Lauren and Allyson Nickelson, Cody, Emily, and Holly Moore; several nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 5, 2011, from 12-2PM at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral service will be at 2:00pm with Rev. Larry Hewitt officiating. Interment will follow at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.holleygamblefh.com

The mother of former Anderson County sheriff Francis Moore of Clinton, Mrs.Laura Stringfield Moore,98,
died last Thursday night at Anderson County Health Care Center in Clinton.Mrs.Moore,formely of Clinton Rt.7,
was a member of the Zion Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her husband,James A.Moore,who died in 1966.
She is survived by four sons, Fred, Elllis and Raymond Moore, all of Clinton and Lawrence Moore of Harriman,
daughter,Mrs.Hollis(Elsie) England of Wayneville,Ohio, 31 grandchildren,10 great-grandchildren, sister,Mattie Jones
of Coalfield,two brothers, Ernest Stringfield of Clinton, and A.H. Stringfield of Dayton,Ohio.Funeral servcies were held
Sunday at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev.Edgar West officiating.Burial was in Tennessee Valley Memory Gardens.

John Alvin Stringfield was born on Mar. 19, 1867 in Scott Co., Tennessee. He was the son of Lawrence Richard Stringfield (1846-aft 1891) and Louvena Stephens (1843-aft 1880).

His paternal grandparents were John Stringfield (1818-1873) and Mary Ann Scarbrough (1822-1891).

His maternal grandparents were Whitmill Stephens (1809-abt 1866) and Elizabeth Waters (1807-aft 1871).

John's first wife was Margaret C. Stephens. His second wife was Nancy Silvey (1875-aft 1931).

John died on Jan. 25, 1931 in Oakdale, Morgan Co., TN at the age of 63. According to his death certificate, he was buried in the Piney Cemetery located in Oakdale.
