The cover photo is Reda Pauline Davis. She was born 4 Jun 1910, daughter of John Houk Davis and Mary Elizabeth Stanley, and granddaughter of Capt. Joseph W. and Freely A. Wallace. Reda appears to be about 6 years at the time of the photograph.
In 1900, the family consists of Fredey A. (Wallace) Davis,age 54 years, a widow; John H., age 21; Harvey H., age 19,; Minnie M., age 16; James S. Davis, age 33; his wife Liza, age 23; and their sons, Charles G., age 4, and Buston R, age 1. The family is not listed in the Anderson County 1910 census (Betty J. Phillips, transcription).
On 7 November 1931, Reda Pauline (age 22) and Clifford Farmer (age 28) both of Heiskell, were married in Anderson County, Tennessee by Rev. J. A. Demarcus.
Reda Pauline died 6 Oct 1993.

Can shed a bit of light on Capt Davses! One on Carlos Davis, the other on Reda Davis.

Joseph W Davis (PVT Union Army) was father of Joseph M Davis. Joseph M had a nickname "CAP". He was always called" Uncle Cap". Old photo of he and others , he is listed as "Uncle Cap" and to my knowledge he was never in the military. In 1910 Uncle Cap was living in Oklahoma as a farmer. Carlos was age 13. In 1920 he was living in Indiana ( Carlos was age 21 )and -census dates. DAte seems of by a couple years but that is the census for you.

Mom remembered Uncle Cap very well , loved him. She " thought" he was called "CAP" because he Always wore a cap.

"Me thinketh" some researchers or whoever are thinking CAP is for Captain. In this case it isn't.

Carlos' parents were Joseph M ( called CAP) Davis and Mary Almeta/Almedia/ Aunt Meadie/Meady Foster. Mother was NOt Freely A Davis. From info on April-May June 2016 issue.
